In Memoriam: John C. Backus, Jr.

Wolf Trap Foundation remembers former Board of Directors Chairman (2004-2005), John C. Backus, Jr. with deep gratitude for his 20 years of commitment to Wolf Trap. John was a Board member from 2001–2007, steadfast donor, opera housing host, and leader during a pivotal campaign for Wolf Trap and the opening of the Center for Education. His generosity and passion for the arts enriched our community.

Wolf Trap founder Catherine Filene Shouse gave us America’s first and only national park for the performing arts, donating more than 100 acres of beautiful farmland and the funds to build a state-of-the-art outdoor theater. As a Wolf Trap member, you carry Mrs. Shouse’s vision forward.
