Driven by her love of nature, education, and the arts, Catherine Filene Shouse donated the land and funds necessary to build the nation’s only National Park for the Performing Arts.

She gave the Park to the people, and with Wolf Trap Foundation, built spectacular structures and amenities to welcome people of all ages to a place where nature, architecture, the arts, and community spirit combine most uniquely.

We as a community are stewards of this national treasure, and we must elevate and keep Wolf Trap thriving, relevant, and beloved for future generations.

“Wherever I am when I depart this world, I’ll be watching Wolf Trap and all who accept the responsibility of carrying out my deep desire that it brings peacefulness, pleasure, and outstanding programs for people, young and old.”

Catherine Filene Shouse, Founder, (1896-1994)
