There is power in Wolf Trap’s community of members. Each year, thousands of arts supporters like you come together to fuel Wolf Trap’s programs with their charitable contributions. Many members take an even more personal approach to making an impact at Wolf Trap—they volunteer their time, as well.
If you would like to help Wolf Trap continue to flourish in this way, become a volunteer! Wolf Trap Foundation volunteers provide valuable services while enjoying special benefits and forging friendships.
Volunteer Impact
In 2024, 200 volunteers provided 5,800 hours of service at the Filene Center Gift Shop and Concessions, 945 hours of Hospitality service, and countless additional hours working in the office, at The Barns, and at Special Events. Please join us!
A Range of Volunteer Opportunities
Members at any level can volunteer to represent Wolf Trap year-round with flexible opportunities in:
Filene Center Gift Shop
Assist patrons interested in purchasing Wolf Trap merchandise during Filene Center performances, as well as renting binoculars and seat cushions for the lawn. Gift Shop and Concessions volunteers (described below) have the added perk of hearing concerts during their shifts!
Concessions
Help with food and beverage operations at our Concession stands at the Filene Center. Work with seasonal staff in a lively environment.
Hospitality
Assist the Wolf Trap Special Events team at events for members, patrons, and their guests. Serve as a greeter/guide to help visitors feel welcome at the Park before performances.
Office
Work with Wolf Trap Foundation staff on mailings, filing, and miscellaneous office tasks at the Center for Education throughout the year. These volunteer duties are essential to Wolf Trap Foundation's operations, and the Foundation staff enjoys interacting with volunteers during the day.
Promotional Events
Lend a hand to our marketing team at various local and promotional events by engaging with guests, distributing collateral, and representing Wolf Trap enthusiastically in the community.
Fun Perks
Wolf Trap volunteers are crucial to a successful season at Wolf Trap, and in recognition, we’re pleased to offer unique benefits. Foundation volunteers receive free entry to select Wolf Trap shows, an official badge to wear around the park and permitted parking near the Filene Center while on duty, a one-night pass to Encore Circle Lounge, and behind-the-scenes access to Wolf Trap operations.
Perhaps the best perk of all is time spent with the people of the Wolf Trap community. Some of our dedicated members have volunteered for Wolf Trap for over 30 years and have formed lasting friendships. To celebrate our volunteers for all they do and give them opportunities to socialize with each other, Wolf Trap hosts several events throughout the year, including a Volunteer Orientation, Summer Social, and Appreciation Dinner.

All active Wolf Trap members 18 years or older are eligible to volunteer. To do so, you must be able to commit to a certain number of shifts per summer (for gift shop and hospitality only) and be willing to work under the supervision of Wolf Trap Foundation staff, as well as complete a background check and other training requirements.
Each year we are humbled by and grateful for the commitment of our volunteers. As we look forward to sharing a summer of exciting shows and events, we would love to welcome you to our team!
